i had a webtv box / when my name appeared on the television monitor/screen it was such a thrill / not because it smacked of fame / after all my name and picture have both appeared in newspapers both because i had written something and because someone had written something about me / no, it was because i had made a connection to the great unknown / like when i signed up for an e-mail list when i didnt really know what an e-mail list was i felt like i did when i sent away for my capt midnight decoder badge and then when the badge came and i listened to capt midnight on the radio give out the numbers to decode i was connected to all these other kids who had badges too / sometimes we had decoder rings instead of badges
being a child definitely had its moments
